The DGAO now offers membership to orthodontists and orthodontic training assistants.
The purpose of the company is training and further education in the field of treatment with transparent plastic splints (aligners) and the promotion of research on this topic. Furthermore, the DGAO has set itself the task of supporting dental and medical organizations as well as institutions of the public health system and of collaborating with national and international specialist societies. The DGAO thus forms the perfect platform for specialist information and further education. Members receive direct access to the latest aligner technology – analyzed and evaluated by experts.
"The DGAO is the first scientific society to offer its members a manufacturer-independent forum for wireless orthodontics, which is becoming increasingly popular," says General Secretary Dr. George Black. "With a membership, I take part in the constant further developments in this field and document my competence in the field of aligner orthodontics for patients and colleagues."
The German Society for Aligner Orthodontics was founded in November 2007 and is based in Stuttgart. The board of the DGAO consists of Prof. em. dr Rainer-Reginald Miethke (President), Dr. Boris Sonnenberg (Vice President), Dr. Jörg Schwarze (Secretary General), Prof. Dr. dr Gernot Goz, Dr. Thomas Drechsler, Dr. Julia Haubrich and Dr. Werner Schup. Its primary goal is to show and publicize the advantages of orthodontic treatment with transparent plastic splints, which has been used for decades. This is done, among other things, by setting up and promoting working groups for special research areas of treatment with aligners, further training and symposia. The research results are published in orthodontic specialist journals and on the DGAO website (www.dgao.com).
